Van Loo Fiduciary Services Staff

Cindy Van Loo

Cindy Van Loo

As a native Oregonian, born and raised in Tillamook, Cindy’s long and steadfast career in the legal field began when she moved to Portland as a young adult. She started her professional journey as a legal assistant in multiple downtown Portland law firms in the mid/late 1970’s. Van Loo Fiduciary Services, LLC was established based on the knowledge and skills she obtained by working for these firms which focused on cases involving probates, conservatorships, guardianships, and trusts. It was after serving as her father’s conservator in 2009, she realized she had the compassion and commitment, plus the technical skills, to help vulnerable individuals as a professional fiduciary. In 2011 she became a National Certified Guardian and Van Loo Fiduciary Services, LLC came to fruition.

Prior to founding Van Loo Fiduciary Services, LLC, Cindy focused many years on advocating for elderly and disabled individuals as well as people with learning difficulties; the families of those incarcerated; and children in foster care. She has served as a CASA, delivered Meals on Wheels, chaired an Oregon non-profit agency, cooked meals for the homeless, served in leadership roles in her church, and volunteered her services in a wide range of programs within the community.

Since the launch of Van Loo Fiduciary Services, LLC in 2011, Cindy has taken on numerous cases involving complex and challenging issues involving probates, trusts, conservatorships and guardianships. With the specialized skills she learned from her many years working in law firms, combined with her dedication for keeping vulnerable individuals safe, she feels her role as a professional fiduciary is the profession she has spent her whole life preparing for.

When she finds spare time, Cindy enjoys traveling, hiking on easy forest trails, oil painting a landscape, tending her garden of dahlias and vegetables, baking her famous cinnamon rolls, reading, writing in her journal, taking her naughty Australian Labradoodle, Sugar, on walks and snuggling with her Siamese cat, Coco. Cindy is a first-time author of her memoir, 20 years in the making; On the Write Path to Me & Free (published by BookBaby in June 2023).

Jeni Muerer

Jeni Meurer

Jeni, also a native Oregonian, was born and raised in Portland. Though she left briefly to obtain her Bachelors and Masters degrees from Willamette University, she always knew she would come back and reside in Portland to raise her family.

Prior to joining Van Loo Fiduciary Services in 2015, Jeni was an educator specializing in teaching 7th & 8th grade language arts and social studies. While Jeni loved that job, it became difficult to balance the demands of teaching with the needs of raising young children. It was around this time that Van Loo Fiduciary Services had grown its client base and Cindy needed to bring on another member. Jeni’s love of working with and helping people has always been the driving force for any job she has performed and joining Van Loo Fiduciary fulfilled that need, despite it serving a much higher age demographic than she was previously used to. Though as time went on, it became clear that there were many parallels between teaching and managing the fiduciary caseload.

In 2019, Jeni became a National Certified Guardian. She is also a member of the Guardianship Conservatorship Association of Oregon and National Guardianship Association. The former teacher inside of her loves informing others about the role of a professional fiduciary due to the importance of the work and lack of people in the business. She likes the fact that every day presents itself with new challenges and tasks that need to be solved which keep her and Cindy on their toes. They consider themselves “professional problem solvers.”

When Jeni is not working, she enjoys raising her two boys with her husband. Their favorite things to do as a family are to play golf, travel, and participate in anything soccer related. Many weekends are spent cheering for her boys and coach husband from the soccer sideline. She can also be found running with friends, wine tasting, reading a good book, giving her mini aussidoodle belly rubs, or exploring new places.
